At Easter 2017, around 180 cool young musicians went to Southern Jutland to participate in ROD's 11th folk music competition, which was held this year at Tønder Gymnasium. It was a week of lots of singing, music, dancing and partying together with four tough instructors from four different countries, and a lot of volunteer helpers.
RadioFolk went to Tønder to experience the big closing concert, and it was an exceptionally inspiring experience, which we documented by recording the concert and interviewing representatives of both organizers and participants as well as instructors.
The four instructors were Finnish accordion player Johanna Juhola, Swedish saxophonist Daniel Reid, Danish-Scottish-Australian multi-instrumentalist Hal Parfitt-Murray, and English guitarist Ian Stephenson, and together with all the many participants they provided a fantastic evening with lots of fantastic music and an indomitable spirit.

“It's one of the wildest and coolest weeks you'll find in this year's folk music calendar,” says one of this year's directors, the English guitarist Ian Stevenson from Baltic Crossing, and continues: “..two hundred young people crammed together in an old school for a week, it's just partying and music around the clock!”
