On the radiofolk.dk website you can enjoy a whole world of good Danish folk music, and all you need is a phone or a computer with internet access. Here you have free access to lots of exciting roots and folk music reports, interviews and live music, which you can live-stream, stream on demand or podcast, whenever you want.
For example, there are currently more than 40 editions of the magazine program “The Cat in the Sack“", where the host, Morten Alfred Hoirup, takes you down into the engine room of folk music, and up into the musicians' closets. Here you will also find completely unique live recordings with bands and soloists from the Danish folk music scene, recordings that you cannot hear anywhere else.
In this one 4th edition of The Cat in the Sack From 2014, for example, you can hear the recently deceased clarinetist Peter Bastian, and violinist Hans Jørgen Christensen and cimbalom player George Mihalache, entertain at Halkær Festival until laughter resounds.
Or how about a program like “What's Cooking Folks?“", where international musicians talk and play music with some of the roots, folk and folk music constellations that are burning through in their local area right now?
One of them is the American fiddler Jamie Fox, a Metis Indian from the Belknap Reservation in the state of Montana, as told here about what is happening to the violin music of the Native Americans.
