Oh how happy we are! For the second time in less than two months, radiofolk.dk received an important award on the Danish roots and folk music scene. At the end of September, we proudly received an OOaward for our public service function regarding Danish folk music, and on November 10, a DMA jury chose to present radiofolk.dk with the award in the category Danish Folk Media of the Year, at the big DMA Folk\/World 2019 gala party at Alice in Copenhagen. Here is the motivation: <\/p>\n\n\n
\u201cThe recipient of this year's award is a communicator who works with tireless energy and great commitment to make folk music accessible to all Danish ears. It is a communicator who represents a unique angle on Danish folk music. With tenacity, great insight, topicality and a wide musical repertoire, the positive development of the genre is conveyed. All aspects of the Danish folk music scene are highlighted, and this year's communicator holds the banner high and delivers public service of very high quality in an area where other media fail miserably. Folk music is conveyed in the best way through this year's communicator. The communicator of the year is: radiofolk.dk\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n
We at Mediehaven, who manage radiofolk.dk on a daily basis, are of course very happy about the award, and promise to use it as best as possible in our search for funds that can keep Danish roots, folk and folk music in the media in Denmark and abroad. Many thanks to the DMA Folk\/World committee, and also to Folk Danmark for being able to maintain this DMA tradition \u2013 Hope that we succeed in building a good foundation for the DMA in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n
On behalf of radio people, I would also like to say that we are proud that we have had the channel running 24\/7 for almost 6 years now. Constantly day and night \u2013 i.e. over 50,000 hours or more than 3 million minutes \u2013 features, interviews, live concerts from the Danish folk music scene have been presented and hundreds of thousands of folk songs, polkas, waltzes and hopsas have been played in our flow radio \u2013 in addition to countless podcasts and other on-demand broadcasts, thousands of listens and clicks every month.

We therefore also allow ourselves to call ourselves the world's largest radio channel presenting Danish folk music. DR is still very welcome to take up the fight... <\/p>\n\n\n
We can thank the organizations Rosa folk with Gunnar Madsen and especially Rasmus Wehner, Tempi with especially Torben Eik Jacobsen, and the rest of the board of Mediehaven, Mia Guldhammer, Anne Grete Kamilles and David Mondrup, for our existence. In addition, there is of course the tireless, committed voice of the Radio and Facebook editor Morten Alfred H\u00f8irup, who unfortunately could not be here today as he is on tour in the USA. However, I know that he is following along eagerly over there \u2013 I have already received several text messages about how things are going.<\/p>\n\n\n
Finally, of course, a big thank you to our ever-growing number of listeners and those involved. We also choose to see this award as an emphasis that radio is no longer a good idea or a project, but that radiofolk.dk has become an established and indispensable medium for the Danish folk music genre.
