This podcast is part of a series titled <em>\u00d8-Gold \u2013 Folk music in Denmark<\/em> which is about documenting and disseminating the islands&#039; folk music and the scene it is a part of.<\/p>\n<p>On a lovely summer day in early August, I met S\u00f8ren Korsh\u00f8j at <em>Music over Pr\u00e6st\u00f8 Fjord<\/em> \u2013 a festival of Nordic music, which traditionally takes place in S\u00f8ren and his wife <em>Anne Gretes<\/em> large and lush backyard in <em>North Smidstrup<\/em> right by <em>Brave eye<\/em>, somewhere in between <em>Naestved<\/em> and <em>Presto<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>S\u00f8ren is a well-known name in Danish folk music circles. He sings, plays and tells stories for children in the band <em>The Bear Service<\/em>, and he sings his own songs for adults under his own name. But you can also see him in the band <em>Grassolin<\/em> who travels around Denmark singing and playing <em>Kim Larsen<\/em>-songs at full speed and in a bluegrass style with guitar, violin, percussion, double bass and four-part singing.<\/p>\n<p>In the band Optur, which we are now spotlighting, it is about what S\u00f8ren Korsh\u00f8j calls <em>Nordic Free Folk<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I catch S\u00f8ren in the middle of the Musik over Pr\u00e6st\u00f8 Fjord festival in full swing, in the afternoon before he and the band Optur are to play at the night ball in the big tent, <em>The dance top<\/em>, where the festival&#039;s many dance orchestras play.<\/p>\n<p>The music we hear in the podcast is played by S\u00f8ren Korsh\u00f8j and Optur, and this podcast is produced by <em>RadioFolk.dk<\/em> before <em>Media Garden<\/em>, and is supported by <em>The Islands Art Foundation<\/em>.
