It was a beautiful and typically Danish, slightly windy summer day with white clouds racing across the blue sky. We had a little lunch and drank a cup of tea on the balcony, after which we sat down in my little kitchen. Here we had a chat and recorded a few of Inge Marie&#039;s melodies.<\/p>\n<p>Inge Marie was born in 1952 and lives in <em>Svendborg<\/em>. She plays, as she puts it, \u201cfor pleasure and enjoyment\u201d. Inge Marie is trained as a Social and Health Assistant and has attended the Seminar for Handicraft and Design in North Jutland. She has, among other things, worked on rehabilitating people with brain damage, and in this connection has used singing and music in her therapy. Inge Marie retired almost four years ago, and if you look up her Facebook page you can read the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>In my free time I write poems \u2013 songs for children \u2013 design clothes, paint and make art exhibitions, and play folk music with my dear husband. My heart is the close \u2013 the active and the real. As well as being picky and passionate about slow food from our lovely garden.<\/em>\u201c<\/p>\n<p>In early spring 2025, Inge Marie H\u00f8jmann published the sheet music book <em>Lyngens Land \u2013 in words and tones<\/em>. It contains 25 of her own melodies, and the title partly refers to the title of one of Inge Marie&#039;s melodies, <em>Hymn to the Land of Lyngen<\/em>, and partly to her upbringing in Jutland.<\/p>\n<p>This podcast is part of a series titled <em>\u00d8-Gold \u2013 Folk music in Denmark<\/em> which is about documenting and disseminating the islands&#039; folk music and the scene it is a part of.
