In this edition of the podcast, we will be featuring the <em>Danish Fiddle Quartet<\/em>, recorded at the famous Danish <em>Barrel Festival <\/em>that runs the last weekend of August every year.<\/p>\n<p>The Danish Fiddle Quartet was started by the violinist and singer, J\u00f8rgen Dickmeiss. J\u00f8rgen is normally playing a lot of traditional and newly composed music with his wife, in a duo called Sv\u00f8bsk.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But during the last few years he has been working on new string arrangements, partly for some of his own compositions and songs, but also for a few traditional tunes, and even for some music by the world famous Danish composer, Carl Nielsen, who lived from 1865 to 1931.<\/p>\n<p>Ever since the Danish Fiddle Quartet began playing together not so long ago, they have released the album, Nattens Favn, The Embrace of the Night. Also the other violinist, <em>Ditte Fromseier<\/em>, who has also played a lot of roots, folk and trad music, has started writing new material for the quartet. They call their music for \u2018Chamber Folk\u2019.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The two other members of the Quartet are <em>Mathilde Holding<\/em> who plays the cello, and <em>Bruno Sanches<\/em> who plays the viola.
